The middle of August we went to Lake Superior just over the Canadian border with friends of ours. We stayed in their parent's cabins right along the lake. We could wake up in the morning and see the fog lifting off the lake -- it was beautiful. There was a sand bar along the shore so the kids could walk out forever and still only be waist deep in the water. We were able to build sand castles, have a bon fire, go tubing as well as lots of swimming and playing in the water. It was a great time and we are so thankful that we were invited and able to go!
